Tom Garfinkel purchased controlling interest of Hall of Fame Racing (HoFR) with Jeff Moorad and Tom Davin on Aug. 31, 2007. Garfinkel is uniquely qualified in motorsports, possessing extensive experience working in sports business, corporate environments, and in NASCAR and open-wheel racing. He previously worked for Texaco Inc., managing sponsorships and branding, and as Executive Vice President at Chip Ganassi Racing Teams.
In addition to his role at HoFR, Garfinkel serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of Major League Baseball's 2007 National League West Champion Arizona Diamondbacks, overseeing all marketing and branding, communications, ticket sales, corporate partnerships, strategic planning, human resources and information technology.
While at Chip Ganassi Racing Teams from 2001-2006, Garfinkel oversaw all business operations of the 400-employee company. During Garfinkel's tenure, Chip Ganassi Racing Teams won two championships and grew to include three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams, one NASCAR Nationwide Series team, two IRL IndyCar Series teams and one Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series team. Garfinkel was the architect of several successful and innovative sponsorship programs with Target, Chevron, Discount Tire Company, Microsoft, Dell Computer, Energizer, GlaxoSmithKline, and CompUSA, among others.
Garfinkel has also worked closely with world-class drivers such as Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti, Casey Mears, Jamie McMurray, Scott Pruett, Scott Dixon, and Dan Wheldon.
Garfinkel's background also includes time at Miller Brewing Company in strategic marketing and sales. Additionally, he has consulted on projects for Nike, Coca-Cola and Dell Computer Corp. He sits on the Board of Directors of Phoenix Youth at Risk, on the Board of Advisors for PROTRADE, and as an adjunct Board Member of Magee-Womens
Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh. Garfinkel also proudly serves as an Honorary Commander at Luke Air Force Base located near Phoenix.
Garfinkel earned a B.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an M.B.A. from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
He and his wife, Allison, reside in Paradise Valley, Arizona with their sons, Harrison and Jackson. |
